Wellbeing Coaching

What is wellbeing coaching?
Wellbeing coaching is a one-to-one goal-driven approach that focuses on where you would like to be in the future and how to get there. It is strictly between yourself and your coach. The starting point is 'today' and the process enables you to evaluate where you are now and gain clarity on what you would like to achieve in the future for your overall wellbeing.

How can coaching help me?
Coaching can give you a fresh perspective on what you can achieve and gives you a road map of how to do it. For example if you want to make changes but are hindered by lack of time, coaching is an excellent tool for helping you to find your own workable solution. It can help you to be more effective in achieving your goals.

It sounds a bit like counselling, is that right?
No! Counselling involves delving into the past and looking at the dynamics of why a situation is as it is, and is therefore not goal-driven. If you need this sort of help we can refer you to qualified psychotherapists. On the other hand, a wellbeing coach acts as facilitator in getting you to where you would like to be; this is your process, you drive it.

How many coaching sessions would I need?
This depends on the individual as everyone has different needs, but a general rule of thumb is three to six 1-hour sessions on a regular pre-agreed basis.

Am I expected to do anything between sessions?
Absolutely! You will set your own goal in each session, each one of which will be a small step towards achieving your original longer-term objective. You will need to action whatever is required to achieve these goals, however small a step.

How does wellbeing coaching differ from life coaching?
As a process, there is not much difference. However, wellbeing coaches have the specialist knowledge to focus on those issues that affect your health and wellbeing – such as nutrition, stress, work and work/life balance, environmental health, relationships, time management, money worries, exercise, and even practical issues around food and cooking. We can also advise, recommend or refer as required.

How many times have you been given advice you just can't follow? Coaching can offer real change because it is driven by you.In return for an open-minded attitude and a positive desire to embrace the challenges that taking personal responsibility can bring, this change can improve a wide range of personal circumstances, helping you live the life you wish to live – to the full.
